Body responds to variant extent in pregnancy to hormonal and mechanical stimuli. The possibility of encountering UTIs are increased in this regard. The belly extension, difficulty in maintaining hygienic conditions accompanied by these variations in the body make the human body more prone to such kind of infections. Generally it is advised to take antibiotics against the causative agent, hydration therapy if needed and admission in any health care facility if chances of complication are there. Moreover, life style modifications are also advised like after urinating or defecating the wiping should be front to back. Liquid soap should be preferred and washing the hands appropriately before using toilet. The preferred antibiotics are cephalexin, ampicillin and nitrofurantoin . Azithromycin and cefuroxime are also used nowadays as strains of bacteria are getting day by day more resistant to the previous antibiotics.
